I guess I wouldn't be a true New Orleanian without having something major stolen from me. My bike was stolen out of my laundry shed on the back of my house, in a locked up backyard. I just discovered it about 15 minutes ago. Sadly I don't know when it was actually stolen.
So if you see one of these layin about town, let me know. I'm sad and I can't afford a new one right now.

Man I feel ya. I was sadly separated from a longtime bike of mine just last Summer. It was also in a gated yard off of the street. It's like bike thieves have supernatural homing abilities or something. I'm using Menckles's bike until we get a new one. But, as my grandmother says, "that's a girls' bike" so I don't want to ride it as often.
That really bites. I'd prefer someone steal my car rather than my bike.
In the past 6 years, I've had $800 worth of bikes stolen .
The saddest part is that I got a gift certificate to Bayou Bike this christmas to add fenders, rear rack, pannier bags... and now it's like some twisted Gift of the Magi story. At least I can just use it towards the purchase of the next bike.
Makes me so glad I hauled it up to Chicago for my Gustavacation, too. Oh wait. Not so much.
Yeah, I'm bitter. I figure I get about 48 hours to gripe, right? I'll be over it soon.
So, so sorry. I've usually managed to haul any and all bikes into my house - but, then again, the ones we found in our back shed that were left from past tenants sat there in an unlocked place in our backyard until we refurbished 'em. I guess if it's got enough rust on it, nobody touches it.
((((((hugs))))))
Damn, that was a cute bike!
